Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment (SAGE)

Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment (SAGE) is part of the 5-years expending social protection programme (ESP) implemented by the Government of the Republic of Uganda under the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development. It was piloted in 14 districts across the country namely namely-Apac, Kole, Amudat, Moroto, Nakapiripirit, Napak, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Kaberamido, Katakwi, Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, Nebbi and Zombo. The Government on 21st  August 2015 announced the national roll out of the programme to other Districts.
SAGE Programme under the Senior Citizens Grant (SCG) is currently being implemented in all the 15 Lower Local Governments in the District with a total enrollment of 13,154. Under the scheme, each beneficiary receives shs. 25,000/= Grant per month. Currently the payments are made to beneficiaries trough post bank.
